Second Hand Sunday

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, May 26, 2013, In : Charity Shops
I haven't done a second hand Sunday post for ages so I thought I'd try and restart doing some of these.  I'm a bit of a charity shop addict and love bargains, so here's my latest acquisitions :)

This first ones a bit daring of me as I don't normally wear white, especially on the bottom half, but I thought it was so pretty that it won me over.  It was just £4 and has beautiful inserts of broad anglais and a really full skirt.

Second Hand Sunday

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, June 24, 2012, In : Charity Shops
I was working over in Watford yesterday morning so I got to have a good mooch around the charity shops over in there for a change.  There's a brilliant selection and I can usually find some bargains.  Yesterday I found loads of goodies over at the New Hope Trust Charity shop.  Its a local homeless charity and the shop is really big and great for finding second hand craft materials.  Here's what I found yesterday.

Now, I know this as a Knitting Nancy. It made me smile when I spotted it as I ha...

Latest Creations & Some Donations

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, In : Jewellery
This hot weather seems to be having the reverse effect that I was expecting.  I thought some warm and sunny weather would inspire me and I'd feel extra creative.  Unfortunately all I've really done is channel my inner cat and I've just wanted to sit around, nap and do not much of anything :/

I did however get some old jewellery donated to me by a couple of friends.  I've been meaning to take pics of it for a while so I finally got round to it today \o/ I'm not quite sure how use them yet as my...

Latest Charity Shop Finds

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, April 12, 2012, In : outandabout
I've been charity shop shopping recently and I'm pretty pleased with my recent purchases.  I normally forget to share them but this time I actually remembered to take some pics, so I'm going to do this while I remember.

First up is this cool necklace I picked up from my local Grove House Hospice shop.  I loved the square beads and was thinking of taking it apart for beads and findings but, have since decided to keep it for me.  I so rarely do this - normally my first instinct is 'BEADS! - Mus...

Latest Creations

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, January 26, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had horrendously busy month so far and I've been feeling a bit meh and tired :(  On the plus side though, I have been making loads more jewellery and some goodies for an upcoming giveaway I have planned for next week \o/

First, I'll show you what I've been making.  I've already been playing around with the beads and charms I mentioned in my last post and here's what I've used them for.

I made these pretty blue earrings from one of the bracelets I picked up a couple of weeks earlier.  I was...

Lots of Makery

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, January 15, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had a busy couple of weeks creating and picking up new tools and beads.  Last weekend I had a wonder down to Hatfield Rd in St Albans, where there are lots of charity shops and a brilliant Vintage Emporium.  I picked up some excellent bargains including a book on creating with polymer clay, some old jewellery with some very pretty beads and charms and some really cool wool.  I also met my boyfriend in the Vintage Emporium and had a spot of afternoon tea.  We had warmed bread pudding with...

I'm On A Roll!

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been making jewellery like its going out of fashion this last couple of weeks :)  Its been great!  I've also been sorting out the last bits and bobs before the Craft Fair on the 26th.  I've made myself earring stands, got myself a nice mirror, some chocs to entice potential customers :), a Christmas card stand to hold my business cards and a lovely jewellery stand that I got from my sister for my birthday.  I've even had a go at laying out my jewellery and I've got loads.  I've got way m...

More Makery :)

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been slowly working through my stash of broken jewellery and disassembling them.  I've also been having a brutal look at some of my older jewellery that I made.  I've had a bit of a cull and taken those pieces apart too.  I'm quite chuffed with the amount of jump rings I've salvaged.  It may sound a bit odd but I find the whole process of taking dead jewellery to pieces and sorting the parts really relaxing.  Also by sorting them by colour I've got inspired by some nice colour combinatio...

Feeling Creative \o/

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, October 30, 2011, In : Jewellery
After all the goings on on Folksy its been a relief to get back to making jewellery again.  I've been going through the stash I got from Oxfam earlier in the month and taking the broken jewellery apart and sorting out what findings I can salvage.  So far I have managed to get some really nice copper jump rings and loads of pretty beads and spacers.  Here's what I got in the jar.

It only cost £4.99 so I was chuffed to bits :)  I've so sorted a lot of the beads and made a pair of earrings.  I u...
