Lots of Makery

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, January 15, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had a busy couple of weeks creating and picking up new tools and beads.  Last weekend I had a wonder down to Hatfield Rd in St Albans, where there are lots of charity shops and a brilliant Vintage Emporium.  I picked up some excellent bargains including a book on creating with polymer clay, some old jewellery with some very pretty beads and charms and some really cool wool.  I also met my boyfriend in the Vintage Emporium and had a spot of afternoon tea.  We had warmed bread pudding with...

Planning for 2012

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, December 27, 2011, In : Organising
I've been having a bit of a think about which direction I'd like to take my blog for 2012. I thought I'd set myself some goals for the coming year and see how many I can achieve.

1.  Include some tutorials and recipes.  My aim is to include one a month.  I'm hoping this will get me back into cooking/baking and back into crafting.  Other than make my jewellery for my shop and paint I barely do any other crafting and I used to love it.

The Dreaded Christmas Strikes Again...

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, December 7, 2011,
For those of you who know me, I'm a bit Bah Humbug about the whole Christmas thing.  Its definitely brought on by the whole concept of joining hoards of others trawling the shops for something to give loved ones.  Most of the stuff on the high street just feels like overpriced tat, so that doesn't help either.

More Makery :)

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been slowly working through my stash of broken jewellery and disassembling them.  I've also been having a brutal look at some of my older jewellery that I made.  I've had a bit of a cull and taken those pieces apart too.  I'm quite chuffed with the amount of jump rings I've salvaged.  It may sound a bit odd but I find the whole process of taking dead jewellery to pieces and sorting the parts really relaxing.  Also by sorting them by colour I've got inspired by some nice colour combinatio...

Busy, busy, busy...

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, October 26, 2011,
I've been busy beavering away on my shiny new website and listing stock - check the tabs for a peak of all the goodies I've listed so far :).  I have also made the decision to close my shop on Folksy as my heart just hasn't been in it since they made all the changes to their definition of handmade.  Also, the thought of making a sale and giving even a tiny part to them as commission was also leaving a nasty taste in my mouth.

I'm loving the freedom of having my own site.  It took me a few da...
