Goth Summer Clothes

Posted by Kat C on Saturday, May 7, 2016, In : Fashion
I have quite mixed feelings when it comes to the summer.  I rationally know that the sunlight is really good for my mood and depression but I find it really hard to find things to wear and feel comfortable.  Part of this is that I'm not particularly comfortable in my skin and would like to drop a couple of dress sizes.  I'm kind of okay with this during the winter months as I can be covered but as the weather warms up I feel really uncomfortable.

I decided to have a look on polyvore and see ...

I really want to make some new items for my shops but I'm having a tough job getting inspired.  I thought I'd have a play on polyvore and see what cool stuff I can find.  That usually helps.  Here's what I found:

I really want to make some non jewellery items and make some more accessories, maybe some hair accessories and items like hats, scarves and arm warmers. I also love the laced cuff and would like to make a laced mug cosy.  I've got some cool pleather with skulls on that would be cool. ...

New Painting and Jewellery

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, February 22, 2015, In : Art
I haven't been feeling very creative the last few weeks but I sort of made myself do something as I know it's good for my head.  I think it paid off :)  I made some new jewellery for my A Little Bit Goth shop.  I made this cute bat necklace, which I'm really pleased with, and some ankh earrings.

I've also been painting and painted this new pic.  It's inspired by a poem by Stevie Smith, 'Not Waving but Drowning'.  It's a pretty dark poem and about her struggles with depression.  It's one of my ...

Annual Vampire's Day Soiree

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, February 12, 2015, In : Music
Todays blog post takes it's inspiration from Holly over at Hollys Horrorland. The idea is that everyone participating will post a vampire themed blog post on the 14th February.  This is the first year I've participated, I've meant to do it in the past but always end up forgetting as the day gets close.  This year I put it in my calendar.

I thought for my post I would include a mix of all things vampire related.  One of my favourite books ever is Dracula and I've read it twice, once at school a...

Winter Solstice

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, In : Crafting
This Winter Solstice me, Pat and a couple of friends decided to spend the day at Pat's studio doing a raku firing.  I had made some small tiles that were meant to be Christmas decorations that I wanted to send out in place of cards this year.  Unfortunately due to crappy weather on the days that we've been both free we weren't able to do the glazing and firing till Sunday so they were a bit late to send out.  I'm still really chuffed with how they came out and will send them out to friends an...

Red & Black Week: Day 1

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, June 1, 2014, In : Fashion
I've been really enjoying doing some themed blog posts so I thought I'd join in with Sophisticate Noir and her 4th annual Red and Black week.  I'm going to challenge myself and do a themed blog post every day of the 6 days.

On Sundays I normally do my nails so thought I'd do something red and black for a change.  I don't normally paint them red as I worry that it draws attention to the fact I pick my fingers.  I normally go for pinks, blues, blacks and purples, but today, especially for Red & ...

^v^ World Goth Day ^v^

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, In : Music
As promised, my special World Goth Day post so I thought I'd share some music from some of my favourite bands.

First up it has to be The Godfather of Goth himself.  I've loved Bauhaus since my teens and saw Peter Murphy live a few years back and he is by far the most entertaining band/musician I have ever seen live.  He was on stage for a good couple of hours, he was very witty and very human and played new stuff, old stuff, Bauhaus stuff and chatted to the audience.  I even got a handshake :)...

22nd May - World Goth Day

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, In : Out & About
Being the crazy bat lady that I am I thought it only right that I give a bit of promotion to World Goth Day.  Its a day to celebrate the Goth subculture.  I might have to scale down my efforts slightly due to the fact that it's also the day for local elections and I'm going to be sitting outside my local poling station as a Green Party member.  My stint starts at 7am so I'm not going to be faffing round with make up at 6.30am! I shall do my best to dress in a way that celebrates the day witho...

A Little Bit Goth

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, April 20, 2014, In : Crafting
Well it's been a busy week.  I've been busy painting and making jewellery.  Earlier in the year I set myself up a new Etsy shop called A Little Bit Goth, so I've been making new items for that shop as well as Woodle Doodle Dandy Designs.  So far I've already made 2 sales and I'm feeling really inspired at the moment, so that's really good. You can also find my new shop on here too.

I've also been working on a new painting.  I'm still mainly blocking in the colours at the mo but will get some p...

Goth Swap - What I made

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, October 24, 2013, In : Crafting
I heard from Joss today and she has received the things I made her for the Goth Swap I was taking part in.  She loves everything so I'm so pleased.  I was getting a bit worried as it seemed to be taking forever for her to receive her parcel.  I was worried they had got lost in the post, so I was very relieved when I heard from her today.

It was one of my favourite swaps to take part in.  I had so much fun creating the things for her.  Here's what I made.

After a few weeks off work due to health problems and being on annual leave I went back to work on Monday.  It was a bit of a struggle.  I was the first person in and almost set the alarm off because I'd unlocked the door before I thought 'can I remember the alarm code'.  Luckily my fingers knew the code even if my brain didn't :)

It was great being back and I had a lovely surprize waiting for me - my swap goodies from Jennifer (aka Green Duck).  I made myself a cuppa and got down to the most ...

Swapping & Coughing

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, In : Crafting
I'm feeling really grim at the moment as I have picked up some virus which has given me a nasty, dry cough.  This is affecting my asthma and mood and I've been generally feeling pretty meh :(  The cold bit of the virus is coming out though so I'm hoping I'm over the worse bit.  I've also seen the doctor and have something to take for the cough so fingers crossed it will be gone pretty soon.

In other news, I have been keeping busy with a craft swap.  The swap is on Cut Out & Keep and is a Goth ...
