Spring Cleaning

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, April 12, 2015, In : Organising
I've been having a bit of a tidy of my craft supplies and I'm rather pleased with myself as I've been brave and done a cull of my beads and charms.  I've managed to prune out 4 bags worth of beads, buttons and charms.  I figured the beads I don't plan on using are just cluttering up my supplies and it was making it hard to see what nice beads I had.  As most of my woodle doodle dandy designs jewellery is made from natural materials I've kept the wooden, glass, metal, ceramic and gemstone bead...

Second Hand Sunday

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, June 24, 2012, In : Charity Shops
I was working over in Watford yesterday morning so I got to have a good mooch around the charity shops over in there for a change.  There's a brilliant selection and I can usually find some bargains.  Yesterday I found loads of goodies over at the New Hope Trust Charity shop.  Its a local homeless charity and the shop is really big and great for finding second hand craft materials.  Here's what I found yesterday.

Now, I know this as a Knitting Nancy. It made me smile when I spotted it as I ha...

Feeling Inspired

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, In : Jewellery
Although I've been feeling quite meh recently, creatively I've been feeling really inspired and I've been having an experiment with some of the materials that I've had gathering dust for ages.

I've played around with the idea of making gift cards in the past but never managed to make anything that I was that happy with.  I think what I learnt was that card making is a whole lot trickier than it looks.  You have to be very neat and if you decide to sell them then you're probably not going to ...

Latest Creations

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, January 26, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had horrendously busy month so far and I've been feeling a bit meh and tired :(  On the plus side though, I have been making loads more jewellery and some goodies for an upcoming giveaway I have planned for next week \o/

First, I'll show you what I've been making.  I've already been playing around with the beads and charms I mentioned in my last post and here's what I've used them for.

I made these pretty blue earrings from one of the bracelets I picked up a couple of weeks earlier.  I was...

Lots of Makery

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, January 15, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had a busy couple of weeks creating and picking up new tools and beads.  Last weekend I had a wonder down to Hatfield Rd in St Albans, where there are lots of charity shops and a brilliant Vintage Emporium.  I picked up some excellent bargains including a book on creating with polymer clay, some old jewellery with some very pretty beads and charms and some really cool wool.  I also met my boyfriend in the Vintage Emporium and had a spot of afternoon tea.  We had warmed bread pudding with...

I'm On A Roll!

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been making jewellery like its going out of fashion this last couple of weeks :)  Its been great!  I've also been sorting out the last bits and bobs before the Craft Fair on the 26th.  I've made myself earring stands, got myself a nice mirror, some chocs to entice potential customers :), a Christmas card stand to hold my business cards and a lovely jewellery stand that I got from my sister for my birthday.  I've even had a go at laying out my jewellery and I've got loads.  I've got way m...

More Makery :)

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been slowly working through my stash of broken jewellery and disassembling them.  I've also been having a brutal look at some of my older jewellery that I made.  I've had a bit of a cull and taken those pieces apart too.  I'm quite chuffed with the amount of jump rings I've salvaged.  It may sound a bit odd but I find the whole process of taking dead jewellery to pieces and sorting the parts really relaxing.  Also by sorting them by colour I've got inspired by some nice colour combinatio...
