Makings

Posted by Kat C on Monday, November 30, 2015, In : Jewellery
I've brought myself some fab new jewellery making glue so that I can now make rings and stud earrings and things like that.  It's great :)  I've already made myself a bat ring and it's standing up well so I've made some new items for my shop, including another ring and some cool spider earrings.

First up, these razor blade and flower earrings;

A floury cross ring;

Spider stud earrings;

Bat stud earrings :)

And this glow-in-the-dark bat brooch, which was a bit of silliness and made for me ^v^

I have...

I've been feeling really inspired recently so have been crafting and painting loads.  I've made a few new items for my shop and a few things for me.

Here's what I made for myself.  I love Labradorite and had some Labradorite beads in my supplies and thought I'd make something for me with them.  I've made these bat earrings using the Labradorite beads plus some crystals so they really catch the light.

I've also been experimenting with wire and made myself this labradorite, amethyst and rose qu...

Red & Black Week: Day 6

Posted by Kat C on Friday, June 6, 2014, In : Jewellery
For today I thought I'd share some of my latest creations.  I've listed all of them in my shops so feel free to check them out :)

These were made last night and are probably my favourites.  The red beads on the ends are actually little tiny bells so they make a little tinkling noise as they swing.

I made these a while back but have never been able to get a decent pic till today.  I love the swirl pattern, I think it looks a bit like a finger print.

And these are another pair I made last night....

New Stuff

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, In : Jewellery
I've been busy creating new items for my shop.  I'm due to take voluntary redundancy at the end of next month so I thought I'd get making some new items for my shop as this is something I want to do more of over the next few months.

Here's what I've been making:

All have been uploaded to my shop so feel free to take a look.

I've been feeling quite productive lately and have been making some new items for my shop.  I've made 2 new necklaces and 3 pairs of earrings.  I've also made myself a cute, pink hat and a black infinity dress \o/

Here's the hat I made myself.  It's crocheted from the wool I picked up from the Pound shop a few weeks ago.  I love how it's come out and might make some more for gifts.

It was partly inspired by a new hat I bought myself from Rachael at Talk2thetrees and partly my own design.  The o...

New Creations

Having a newly tidied craft desk has really inspired me and I've been making loads of bits and bobs.  I've been using the sewing machine \o/ and have made myself 4 sleepsuits for the summer - two with full length legs and 2 with shorts.   I'm proud to say they were made entirely from scratch and from my own pattern :)  The 2 with full length legs have elasticated waists too so I'm really chuffed with myself.  I made them from an old bedsheet and a duvet I picked up second hand.  I'll get post...

Pruning and Growing

Posted by Kat C on Friday, June 14, 2013, In : Jewellery
I've been having a bit of a prune of my shop as it felt overdue.  I figured pruning in the garden is a good way of encouraging new growth so I'm hoping it will do the same for my shop.  I've been really inspired since I tidied my desk and craft area. I've also cleared out a load of old craft materials so I can see what I've got now and that also gets me inspired. I've also added some new earrings which I'm really pleased with.  Here's a little glimpse.  To find out more check out my jewellery...

A Sneak Peak at What I'm Working On

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, April 18, 2013, In : Jewellery
I've been enjoying creating the last few weeks and have really enjoyed taking part in swaps again.  I've also been making some stuff for my shop and myself.  I've been working on a new painting.  I haven't worked out a title for it and its probably sums up how I've been feeling the last few months.  It's not exactly a self portrait but it has similarities with me.  Its painted in acrylics and is on canvas board, which I like working on.

I've also been making some jewellery for my shop.  Here's...

Fingers Crossed

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, In : Jewellery
Just a quick post for today.  I've just got back from a meeting with the manager of a new gift shop that's opening in St Albans.  I've been talking about the shop possibly stocking some of my items.  I've left her with my price list and some items for her to discuss with her team.  She's going to get back to me hopefully in the next few days so fingers and toes crossed that the news will be positive.

This will be the first time I've tried selling in a bricks and mortar shop so I'm feeling ph...

Just a quickie post to show off some of my latest creations.  First up are some bracelets I've been working on.  I've been experimenting with some beading wire I bought a while back as its a bit sturdier than elastic so I can use some heavier beads.

This one is made with Turquoise and blue Cats Eye beads and I'm really pleased with how this one came out.

This ones made from some glass and ceramic beads I got ages ago with some broken jewellery.

These were made with some owl charms I boug...

Latest Creations & Some Donations

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, In : Jewellery
This hot weather seems to be having the reverse effect that I was expecting.  I thought some warm and sunny weather would inspire me and I'd feel extra creative.  Unfortunately all I've really done is channel my inner cat and I've just wanted to sit around, nap and do not much of anything :/

I did however get some old jewellery donated to me by a couple of friends.  I've been meaning to take pics of it for a while so I finally got round to it today \o/ I'm not quite sure how use them yet as my...

Feeling Inspired

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, In : Jewellery
Although I've been feeling quite meh recently, creatively I've been feeling really inspired and I've been having an experiment with some of the materials that I've had gathering dust for ages.

I've played around with the idea of making gift cards in the past but never managed to make anything that I was that happy with.  I think what I learnt was that card making is a whole lot trickier than it looks.  You have to be very neat and if you decide to sell them then you're probably not going to ...

S is for Springtime & Sale \o/

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, March 4, 2012, In : Jewellery
To celebrate the warmer weather (although it snowed today!) and all the spring flowers coming up, I thought I'd hold my first ever sale :)  Rather than just select certain things to put on sale, I've decided to slash the prices of everything by 20%. Come and have a nose around, you can find my shop here.

I've had horrendously busy month so far and I've been feeling a bit meh and tired :(  On the plus side though, I have been making loads more jewellery and some goodies for an upcoming giveaway I have planned for next week \o/

First, I'll show you what I've been making.  I've already been playing around with the beads and charms I mentioned in my last post and here's what I've used them for.

I made these pretty blue earrings from one of the bracelets I picked up a couple of weeks earlier.  I was...

Lots of Makery

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, January 15, 2012, In : Jewellery
I've had a busy couple of weeks creating and picking up new tools and beads.  Last weekend I had a wonder down to Hatfield Rd in St Albans, where there are lots of charity shops and a brilliant Vintage Emporium.  I picked up some excellent bargains including a book on creating with polymer clay, some old jewellery with some very pretty beads and charms and some really cool wool.  I also met my boyfriend in the Vintage Emporium and had a spot of afternoon tea.  We had warmed bread pudding with...

Christmas Craft Fair

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, November 27, 2011, In : Jewellery
Yesterday was the day of the Creative Arts Christmas Craft Fair at Verulam School in St Albans.  It was my first ever Craft Fair so the day was an experience.  Unfortunately I didn't sell very much stock but I still feel I learnt a lot from the day.  Also, from speaking with other stall holders, no one was selling much.  On the plus side though, I had lots of positive feedback and I learnt some things about selling in person.  I think I need to be more confident about my stock and ready to ma...

Final Bit & Bobs Before Craft Fair

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been having a final splurge of creating before the Craft Fair Saturday.  I've made a couple more pairs of earrings and made a second rack for my earrings to be displayed on.  If any of you are in the St Albans area this Saturday (26th November 2011) between 11am - 3pm, Woodle Doodle Dandy Designs will be at the Creative Arts Christmas Craft Fair at Verulam School in St Albans.

Here's the flyer the School have sent advertising the event :)  Wish me luck.  Its my first ever Craft Fair so ...

I'm On A Roll!

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been making jewellery like its going out of fashion this last couple of weeks :)  Its been great!  I've also been sorting out the last bits and bobs before the Craft Fair on the 26th.  I've made myself earring stands, got myself a nice mirror, some chocs to entice potential customers :), a Christmas card stand to hold my business cards and a lovely jewellery stand that I got from my sister for my birthday.  I've even had a go at laying out my jewellery and I've got loads.  I've got way m...

All Go!

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, November 10, 2011, In : Jewellery
Its been a busy few days at Woodle Doodle Dandy Towers :)  I've made my first sales from my new site \o/ and I've been making more earrings.  I'm guessing earrings will be my biggest sellers at the craft fair but I know I need to get down to making some more necklaces and bracelets too.

I'm also really chuffed.  My new business cards from Moo turned up at the weekend.  I absolutely love them and have already given a few out.  I also got my new order of elasticated thread and jump rings from ...

More Makery :)

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, In : Jewellery
I've been slowly working through my stash of broken jewellery and disassembling them.  I've also been having a brutal look at some of my older jewellery that I made.  I've had a bit of a cull and taken those pieces apart too.  I'm quite chuffed with the amount of jump rings I've salvaged.  It may sound a bit odd but I find the whole process of taking dead jewellery to pieces and sorting the parts really relaxing.  Also by sorting them by colour I've got inspired by some nice colour combinatio...

Feeling Creative \o/

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, October 30, 2011, In : Jewellery
After all the goings on on Folksy its been a relief to get back to making jewellery again.  I've been going through the stash I got from Oxfam earlier in the month and taking the broken jewellery apart and sorting out what findings I can salvage.  So far I have managed to get some really nice copper jump rings and loads of pretty beads and spacers.  Here's what I got in the jar.

It only cost £4.99 so I was chuffed to bits :)  I've so sorted a lot of the beads and made a pair of earrings.  I u...
