Lockdown Creations

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, March 7, 2021, In : Crafting
It's been a really long time since I've posted anything here so I'll just dive back in.

Here's some of my creations that I've made during lockdown.

This crocheted blanket has been a work in progress since the start of lockdown.  Initially I was using up odds and sods of wool, and then when they started to run down I got someone else's odds and sods of ebay.  So far it's looking pretty good and it's lovely and warm.

As with most people we have had to adapt the way we shop for food.  I used to ...

Ideas and Inspiration

Posted by Kat C on Saturday, April 4, 2015, In : Crafting
I've hit a bit of a creative block recently so have been trying to get inspired.  I have an assessment coming up with Atos, which I'm really anxious about.  It was meant to be next Thursday but, in keeping with the whole 14 month cock up from the DWP, Atos are also dicking me around and have moved the assessment to the 22nd now.  I can't even begin to put into words how unbelievably pissed off I am so I'm trying to vent some of that frustration into creative hobbies.

The only problem is that...

Socks

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, In : Crafting
I finally finished crocheting my first pair of socks this morning and I'm rather proud of the results.  I didn't use a pattern so they aren't exactly the same as each other but they fit well and are warm.  I've also added some elastic to the top to help them stay on.

I will have to get doing some more crocheting as I really enjoyed making these.  I think I will try making another pair, but first I have been asked to crochet a hat for a friend of my boyfriends cat.  The cat is called Charlie ...

Needle Felting, Crochet and AI

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, January 22, 2015, In : Crafting
I spent last Saturday with Pat up at his studio and got a surprising amount done.  I made 3 brooches, 2 of which I've put in my shop and the other was more to play around with and get me inspired.

I've also thought I'd have a go at crocheting some socks.  I have no idea what I'm doing as I'm not using a pattern but so far they are looking okay.  They are going to be dark red and quite chunky.  I'll try and do a bit more on them this afternoon and add a pic with my next blog post.

I have also ...

Winter Solstice

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, In : Crafting
This Winter Solstice me, Pat and a couple of friends decided to spend the day at Pat's studio doing a raku firing.  I had made some small tiles that were meant to be Christmas decorations that I wanted to send out in place of cards this year.  Unfortunately due to crappy weather on the days that we've been both free we weren't able to do the glazing and firing till Sunday so they were a bit late to send out.  I'm still really chuffed with how they came out and will send them out to friends an...

A Little Bit Goth

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, April 20, 2014, In : Crafting
Well it's been a busy week.  I've been busy painting and making jewellery.  Earlier in the year I set myself up a new Etsy shop called A Little Bit Goth, so I've been making new items for that shop as well as Woodle Doodle Dandy Designs.  So far I've already made 2 sales and I'm feeling really inspired at the moment, so that's really good. You can also find my new shop on here too.

I've also been working on a new painting.  I'm still mainly blocking in the colours at the mo but will get some p...

Goth Swap - What I made

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, October 24, 2013, In : Crafting
I heard from Joss today and she has received the things I made her for the Goth Swap I was taking part in.  She loves everything so I'm so pleased.  I was getting a bit worried as it seemed to be taking forever for her to receive her parcel.  I was worried they had got lost in the post, so I was very relieved when I heard from her today.

It was one of my favourite swaps to take part in.  I had so much fun creating the things for her.  Here's what I made.

Recent Creations

Posted by Kat C on Saturday, October 5, 2013, In : Crafting
I've been feeling a little rough this last few days so wasn't sure what to write about.  I decided I'd share a few of my recent creations.  These have all been for craft swaps on Cut Out & Keep.

I've been taking part in the birthdaygrams swap this year.  Birthdaygrams are a year-long swap between a closed group where everyone shares their birthday with the person running the swap.  Then, about a month before each persons birthday she sends out a reminder and everyone creates something small ...

Cats and Crochet

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, September 29, 2013, In : Crafting
Hotel le chat has been open for business again and we have 2 different cats staying with us :)  They are a little older than our usuals and are here to stay a for a longer spell, probably a few months while their new owner moves home.  They originally belonged to a friend of a friend who died suddenly and were staying with a relative.  They weren't really cat people and had dogs so it was a bit stressful for all concerned, so we have them both to stay with us.

They are Bandy and Mouse.  They ...

Latest Makery

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, In : Crafting
I've been experimented with the sewing machine recently and made myself a case for my headphones and my ipod.  I wanted something that attaches to the inside of my bag so that I worry less about losing it so here's what I came up with.

The first bit is a simple ipod case with a button at the top to keep it secure.  The second bit is a zip up headphone case.  My headphones are ones that go round your ears so it meant it had to be quite big.  I've attached the two parts together and fitted a key...

What I made for the Geek Swap

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, May 12, 2013, In : Crafting
Its been a busy few days due to my day job being a bit hectic.  I therefore meant to post these pics earlier but nevermind.

Here's what I made for Lisa for the Geeky Swap.

What I sent for the Geek Swap

It was a relatively small swap with us just needing to make our partners 3 items.  I chose to make a Professor Layton lavender pillow, a yoda keyring and a Sherlock Holmes gadget case.  I also sent some Thorntons toffees as I wasn't sure if they had them in the US.  I'm especially pleased with how the Sherlock Holmes pic ca...

Geek Swap - What I got

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, May 5, 2013, In : Crafting
I forgot to do this sooner but heres the pics of what I got and sent for the Geek Swap.  There were bat hair clips, a Sherlock Holmes Necklace, a comet mug cosy, some Sherlock Holmes cards and bracelet made from resistors.  She also included some sweets, a notepad and a postcard from Michigan.

I love the resistor bracelet so much.  Its probably my favourite item as its so unusual and delicate.  I'd never have thought of using electronic components in jewellery but it makes perfect sense.

Eeek

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, In : Crafting
After a few weeks off work due to health problems and being on annual leave I went back to work on Monday.  It was a bit of a struggle.  I was the first person in and almost set the alarm off because I'd unlocked the door before I thought 'can I remember the alarm code'.  Luckily my fingers knew the code even if my brain didn't :)

It was great being back and I had a lovely surprize waiting for me - my swap goodies from Jennifer (aka Green Duck).  I made myself a cuppa and got down to the most ...

Teaser Pic for Geek Swap

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, April 11, 2013, In : Crafting
Here's the teaser pic I posted for Lisa on Cut Out & Keep for the Geek Swap.  I posted it Wednesday so hopefully it won't take to long to get to her :)

I'm not signed up to any more swaps for the time being so I'm hoping to make some fresh things for my shop.  I've already made a ipod case for myself so may do some stitching.

New Craft Swaps

Posted by Kat C on Monday, March 18, 2013, In : Crafting
I think I've definitely got the swapping bug again :)  I've signed up for 2 more swaps - a Geeky Swap and a Colour Swap.  I've also looking to host my own Tim Burton themed swap.  Its been a while since I've hosted one and that's largely due to the issues of managing flakers.  I had several in the last swap I hosted and it really put me off swapping.  People seem to have come up with some swapping guidelines and I have put some in place for my next one.  I'm hoping I get a few sign up as I'm ...

Swapping & Coughing

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, In : Crafting
I'm feeling really grim at the moment as I have picked up some virus which has given me a nasty, dry cough.  This is affecting my asthma and mood and I've been generally feeling pretty meh :(  The cold bit of the virus is coming out though so I'm hoping I'm over the worse bit.  I've also seen the doctor and have something to take for the cough so fingers crossed it will be gone pretty soon.

In other news, I have been keeping busy with a craft swap.  The swap is on Cut Out & Keep and is a Goth ...

Snow Days

Posted by Kat C on Saturday, January 19, 2013, In : Crafting
Yesterday I had my first snow day in a good few years.  It snowed from 8.45am till nearly 5.00pm and started settling after only a few minutes.  I was relieved that it started early as it meant I was able to take the day off work, rather than setting off and then trying to get home in the snow.

I've finished my red fleece trousers and I'm well under way with the brown fleece top that goes with them :)  They're extremely warm and cosy and I can wear them on their own or over the top of trouse...

Crafters Block

Posted by Kat C on Monday, January 7, 2013, In : Crafting
I'm relieved to say that I seem to finally be getting over a really bad case of Crafters Block.  I haven't felt this uninspired and meh about crafting for years and it lasted a good few months, so I am pleased to finally be seeing the back of it.  This means I have a new project \o/ and lots of ideas for other ones \o/ \o/

I've been eyeing up some of the cute onsies that have been gracing the web and decided I was going to create myself some comfy pjs for lounging round the flat.  If they come...
