I finally finished crocheting my first pair of socks this morning and I'm rather proud of the results.  I didn't use a pattern so they aren't exactly the same as each other but they fit well and are warm.  I've also added some elastic to the top to help them stay on.

I will have to get doing some more crocheting as I really enjoyed making these.  I think I will try making another pair, but first I have been asked to crochet a hat for a friend of my boyfriends cat.  The cat is called Charlie ...

For some reason the gremlins in my camera cable seem to have gone for now so I've been able to get some better quality pics of some of my recent creations.

Here's a couple I've shared already but in a lower quality format.  The first was done in pens and watercolour paints with some chalk to create the mist.

And this one was done in pens, watercolour pencils and glitter.  It kind of evolved while I was watching Frankenweenie so I didn't put much thought into the materials I was using.  This me...

Needle Felting, Crochet and AI

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, January 22, 2015, In : Crafting
I spent last Saturday with Pat up at his studio and got a surprising amount done.  I made 3 brooches, 2 of which I've put in my shop and the other was more to play around with and get me inspired.

I've also thought I'd have a go at crocheting some socks.  I have no idea what I'm doing as I'm not using a pattern but so far they are looking okay.  They are going to be dark red and quite chunky.  I'll try and do a bit more on them this afternoon and add a pic with my next blog post.

I have also ...

Giveaway Winner Announced

Posted by Kat C on Sunday, January 18, 2015, In : giveaway
Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter my giveaway.  I had 31 entries in total, which I'm really chuffed about. In the interest of fairness and transparency I have typed the full list up and assigned everyone a number ( list below).   I then used Random to generate a number for me.

And here's what Random came up with:

Congratulations to Number 11 - Kate Sarsfield.  If you can email me your address and I can get your prize posted out to you.

Latest Creations

I've been feeling really inspired recently so have been crafting and painting loads.  I've made a few new items for my shop and a few things for me.

Here's what I made for myself.  I love Labradorite and had some Labradorite beads in my supplies and thought I'd make something for me with them.  I've made these bat earrings using the Labradorite beads plus some crystals so they really catch the light.

I've also been experimenting with wire and made myself this labradorite, amethyst and rose qu...

New Year Giveaway

Posted by Kat C on Monday, January 5, 2015, In : giveaway
It's that post Christmas lull where people go back to their normal, day to day lives of school and work and decorations are taken down, waistlines and bank accounts are inspected and we are maybe feeling a little flat.  With this in mind I thought it would be the perfect time to hold a New Year giveaway.  For this I will be giving one lucky person the chance to get their hands on these 2 heart shaped, ceramic ornaments.  Both were made by me just before Christmas and were raku fired, with the...

Bat Fit 2015 plus Art

Posted by Kat C on Friday, January 2, 2015, In : Health
As of yesterday Bat Fit has kicked off for another year.  The theme for this year is nourishment which for me means getting a tasty, balanced diet with more fruit and veg and more cooking from scratch rather than relying on processed, quick foods.  Also for me that will mean less fatty snacks and less sugary sweets.  These have crept into my diet over the Christmas break so I need to start to curb these a little before they become regular features of my diet.  A little now and again is ...
