Second Hand Sunday

Posted by Kat C on Saturday, April 21, 2012, In : Charity Shops
I've been looking back at some of my goals for my blog and I've realised I've barely kept to any of them.  The main reason for the goals was to give my blog a bit more structure and introduce some new features, like reviews, tutorials and interviews.

My plan was to do a tutorial/review every other month and a interview on the alternate months in between.  I also had an idea that I might also do more regular features on my second hand buys.  I thought I might call it second hand Sunday.

Painting Again

Posted by Kat C on Friday, April 20, 2012, In : Art
I've always love art and enjoyed painting but just recently I've been wanting to work on a larger scale.  I normally work on small canvases (ACEO sized) or on A5 canvas boards but recently I've been working on something that's probably about A3 (ish).  I'm really enjoying it and I'm really happy with how its coming out.  I just need to do a bit more on the eye that's only half in shot and her hair and then I might leave it there.  Here's how its looking at the mo.

Latest Charity Shop Finds

Posted by Kat C on Thursday, April 12, 2012, In : outandabout
I've been charity shop shopping recently and I'm pretty pleased with my recent purchases.  I normally forget to share them but this time I actually remembered to take some pics, so I'm going to do this while I remember.

Feeling Inspired

Posted by Kat C on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, In : Jewellery
Although I've been feeling quite meh recently, creatively I've been feeling really inspired and I've been having an experiment with some of the materials that I've had gathering dust for ages.

I've played around with the idea of making gift cards in the past but never managed to make anything that I was that happy with.  I think what I learnt was that card making is a whole lot trickier than it looks.  You have to be very neat and if you decide to sell them then you're probably not going to ...

My Crafting Space

Posted by Kat C on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, In : Organising
Last month one of the best neighbours we've had moved back home to Japan.  We miss her loads but we're still in touch and we have loads of bits from her flat which she gave us, so we have plenty of things to remind us of her.  One of these is her old jewellery making desk.  She made absolutely beautiful jewellery, what I'd call 'proper' jewellery making as she created her jewellery completely from scratch, drawing out the designs and creating them using precious metals like gold and silver an...

I was reading through the list of blogs I follow and spotted this on the Talk2TheTrees blog and thought it was right up my street.  Rachael from Talk2Trees has signed up to the pledge to create her art and designs with as much care to the environment and humankind as possible.  The pledge is called Create with Care and by signing up you are saying that you will aim to create using renewable, recycled, fair trade, organic material.  You pledge to educate yourself on environmental issues and sp...
